20 G.R.A.N.D. (Graduates’ Rise Against Nature’s Decline)

Imagine if each graduate plants a tree, how about 10 trees, how about 20,000!

  • A Pending Law – In Action?
    • The upcoming bill “House Bill 8728”, or the “Graduation Legacy for the Environment Act,”  aims to have students plant 10 trees before graduation → a bill curated as a response to climate change.
    • Imagine the possibilities that can happen if this bill was passed? Imagine the effects it can have…
    • …But why just imagine? Why wait? Instead of waiting for the bill to be passed, we decided to act NOW!
    • The more you give, the more you live.
    • Aklan is home to the ASQ Bakhawan Eco-Park, which is home to a vast forest of mangrove trees.
    • In recent times, KASAMA has encountered a rather problematic situation: There are way too many mangrove propagules, but not enough space to plant!
  • Harnessing the Power of the Young!
    • With the help of the graduating students, we hope to show the local government the potential effectiveness of the bill. While empowering the graduating students that they do in fact have the power to impact both the government and the environment!
    • At the same time, we provided graduating students with a FUN, ENGAGING, SUSTAINABLE, and PRODUCTIVE activity for them to get involved in!
    • Connecting and Inspiring!
    • Throughout the project we were able to strengthen our bonds with other JCI chapters.
    • The graduating students were also able to form connections with each other that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
    • Expanding the mangrove propagules to other areas in the Philippines.
    • Using the project as a platform to promote JCI, its values, and spread its branding further.

Ultimately, this project will serve as a sustainable project for JCI, the graduating students, and Aklan as a whole. Additionally, it will function as an achievement for graduating students and contribute to reforestation efforts
